Our Mission
To empower the community of African Diaspora immigrants, refugees, and their descendants in the Greater Seattle Area by building culturally rooted health and housing stability through economic development, legal support, resource navigation, holistic education, and access to cultural arts and traditions.
Housing & Social Services
Our work started with housing and social services, and it’s still our largest area of focus. Nothing else can improve within our community if our people do not first have safe, stable, and affordable housing.
Education Programs
ACHD’s free out-of-school-time programs serve the whole child through social-emotional learning, culturally relevant teaching practices, experiential place-based outdoor education, and robust standards-aligned STEAM curriculum.
Economic Development
Through workforce development, small business supports, and thriving community-centered farmers markets, ACHD works to identify and eliminate barriers to economic prosperity for the African Diaspora community.
Real Estate Development
ACHD’s innovative real estate portfolio prioritizes housing stability, Black homeownership, and generational wealth-building in the Greater Seattle Area and beyond.
